Recognitions Abound for Grahamwood Elementary!
In just the last month, under the capable leadership of Principal Pete Johnson and the impressive educational work of its students and teachers, Grahamwood Elementary has received two recognitions.
First, the Memphis Business Journal named Grahamwood an “A+ School” for being a “Best Performing Mid-South Elementary School!” This was determined by using data from the Tennessee Department of Education to generate an averaged, composite score for Reading/Language Arts, Mathematics and Science for all 159 area schools (Shelby, Fayette and Tipton Counties). Based on this score, Grahamwood Elementary was one of only about a dozen schools to earn an “A+ School” rating.
Additionally, Memphis Parent magazine awarded Grahamwood a Silver Star in its Family Choice Awards edition. Based on the votes of families, Grahamwood Elementary earned a Silver Star in the Best Public School category—second only to White Station High’s Gold Star!
“I think it is awesome that the community values Grahamwood’s educational efforts and academic achievements,” states Principal Johnson. “Our faculty is outstanding and our students go out from here fully prepared to take on the challenges of middle school, high school, college and beyond!”
