World Pancreatic Cancer Day
Students in Sylvia Albert’s 2nd grade classroom at Grahamwood Elementary raised money for the Herb Kosten Foundation. The Herb Kosten Foundation is working to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer through improving community support and funding research. Ms. Albert and Teaching Assistant Kimberly Carter both lost their fathers to pancreatic cancer. So, they teamed up to raise money through donations and the sale of purple ribbons on November 15 for the World Pancreatic Cancer Day. They presented a check for $170 to Lori Kosten Goldberg whose father the Herb Kosten Foundation was named after. “The students did a great job gathering donations to fight this terrible disease,” stated Ms. Albert.
