Choices presented to Grahamwood 5th Grade Students.

In the days leading up to Winter Break, SCS Optional Schools Maxine Smith STEAM Academy and Ridgeway Middle School both visited Grahamwood Elementary to discuss their unique programs with the 5th grade students. Principal Andy Demster of Maxine Smith introduced their impressive Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) program through engaging the 5th graders in a variety of interactive activities. Ridgeway Middle’s IB Coordinator Frankiettia Godwin presented the school’s excellent International Baccalaureate (IB) program. Ms. Godwin along with a group of her students answered questions and explained how their IB program prepared students to succeed in high school, college and life. These visitations were welcomed by Grahamwood’s 5th grade students as they and their parents weigh options on where to attend middle school next year.
