Coach Martin Delivers for Grahamwood’s Kids!

Coach Martin keeping the students active!

P.E. teacher Andrew Martin has been busy over summer writing grants and winning awards to benefit Grahamwood Elementary School’s kids. Coach Martin successfully petitioned two grant programs whose purpose is to increase nutrition knowledge and healthy choices for students. The first is funded by the Action for Healthy Kids Foundation. This organization awarded $1000 to increase school breakfast participation. The $1000 2019 Commit to Fit Grant will provide equipment that promotes fitness, nutrition, and wellness. On top of these, Coach Martin received funding from Fuel Up to Play for equipment to create a flag football program at Grahamwood. Plus, a Yoga Foster grant will provide 100 free yoga mats to start a yoga club for our students. “I have sought out and been awarded this funding to enhance the school experience of our students,” states Coach Martin. “It’s our goal at Grahamwood to ensure our students leave here the with knowledge and skills to lead a healthy and physically active lifestyle. The grants and awards will provide the building blocks to keep us on the path we’ve created for our students.”
