Why: Grahamwood Elementary students and teachers will be joined by FedEx employees, Le Bonheur, Memphis Police, Memphis Fire, University of Memphis, and representatives from Safe Kids Mid-South for this year’s International Walk to School Day. The proceedings will begin at 7:50 a.m. in the Kroger (4264 Summer Ave.) parking lot. The community walk to school event will conclude at Grahamwood about 8:10 a.m. with presentations in the school cafetorium. Safe Kids will provide each student at the school with a bag of goodies that encourage safety. This year the Walk to School event will honor Florence “Flo” Wallace, Grahamwood’s beloved crossing guard, who was recently struck by a vehicle while on the job, keeping our students safe. Please join us for the International Walk to School event and associated activities.
