Briarcrest’s Day of Service at Grahamwood

Briarcrest High School students visit Grahamwood and lend a helping hand!

Pete Johnson, during his tenure as Grahamwood Elementary’s Principal, has played a crucial role in forging public-private partnerships between our school and community organizations. One of Grahamwood’s longest standing partnerships is with Briarcrest High School. Each year, Briarcrest students commit to a day of service at Grahamwood. “I began this partnership with the support of a colleague of mine Eric Sullivan, Principal of Briarcrest High School,” says Johnson. “I appreciate how our schools’ faculty and students work together on projects that benefit both of us.” This year, over a dozen Briarcrest freshmen and several teachers assisted Grahamwood’s faculty with grading papers, classroom projects, created displays, read with students, and helped out in the cafeteria. A great time of learning, fun, and making new friends was the order of the day. We already look forward to next year’s visit from Briarcrest students!
