All incoming 2nd Grade Optional Students at Grahamwood are required to read Cam Jansen and the School Play Mystery by David A Adler. Students will need to have the book on the 1st day of school, as we will begin a class review with text dependent questions.
In addition, students are required to read 2 books of their choice, 2nd grade level or higher. After your child reads their books, they will need to complete a story summary sheet. A parent needs to sign off that the assignment was completed, and this will be turned in Wednesday of the first week of classes.
3rd Grade Optional
All 3rd grade optional students at Grahamwood are required to read The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate. The year will begin with an in class review.
Students are also required to read two books of their choice. After your student reads their two books, they need to write a brief summary to be turned in the first week of school.

4th Grade Optional
4th grade optional required reading is 4th Grade Weirdo by Martha Freeman and one other from the attached document.

5th Grade Optional
Our first unit of study will be on Stories of Human Rights. This summer please read The Watsons Go To Birmingham by Christopher Paul Curtis as your primary read.
Choose one of the following books to read as well. We will discuss the primary book the first week of school.
