All incoming 1st Grade Optional Students at Grahamwood are required to read 1 book from either:
​
The Fly Guy series by the author Ted Arnold
​
OR
​
The Henry and Mudge series from the author Cynthia Rylant.
 
Students will complete the book report template on the book that they choose. A link to the template is provided by clicking the heading to the left.
 
The Book Report will be turned in the first week of classes.
All Rising Optional 2nd Graders are required to read two books this summer.
 
Students will read Cam Jansen and the Summer Camp Mystery by David A. Adler and 1 other book (must be second grade level or above) of their choice.
 
Students must then complete the 2 book report templates entitled "Summer Review Assignments" for EACH books. The templates can be found on the Grahamwood School website or by clicking the heading to the left. 
 
These reports are due the first week of school!

All 3rd grade optional students at Grahamwood are required to read TWO books this summer and complete the book report template (or graphic organizer) for EACH book found on the Grahamwood School website. A link is provided by clicking the 2rd Grade Optional heading to the left. 
 
The first required reading is the book WONDER By R.J. Palacio. 
 
The second required reading is any book from the suggested reading list. This list can be found along with the book report template on the Grahamwood Website or by clicking the heading to the left. 
4th Grade Optional

Students must select TWO books from the Summer Reading list and complete the Book Report Template for BOTH, which is located on the Grahamwood School website or by clicking the link below. Students are also encouraged to complete the BINGO style reading challenge also found by clicking the link below.

The first unit of study for Rising 5th Grade Optional students will be on Stories of Human Rights. In preparation, the REQUIRED, or primary, read is The Watsons Go To Birmingham (by Christopher Paul Curtis).  Students will complete an assignment related to this book during the first week of school. 
 
ALSO, students must choose ONE of the following books to read and complete the Book Report in a Bag Assignment found on the Grahamwood School Website, as well as located by clicking the link in the heading the left.
