Last week, Grahamwood Elementary hosted a school-wide Grandparents Day. An estimated 500+ grandparents visited to have a fun lunch with their grandchildren. Principal Pete Johnson and GLC Coach Mattie Smith served them lunch. “It’s inspiring to see so many of our grandparents here with us and supporting their grandkids’ education,” stated Principal Johnson. Additionally, some of the teachers had special activities in their classrooms. For example, 1st grade Optional teacher Barbara Paris had a game where grandparents worked with their grandchildren to compare their days in elementary school to how it is the same and different today. By the looks on the students faces, it was obvious that they were thrilled to have their grandparents join them at school.
