A Trifecta of Wins in January for Grahamwood Students

Grahamwood Elementary School’s Cheerleaders earn 1st Place!

Grahamwood Elementary’s students are on a roll this January. Congratulations to the Grahamwood Chess Team who competed in the regional tournament last weekend. Three of our teams, under the guidance of their chess instructor Jonathan Beatty, qualified for the state tournament which will be held the first weekend in February. Lead by their coach Kelly George, Grahamwood’s Competitive Cheerleading Team competed at the Worldwide Spirit Association (WSA) Cheer Competition on the last weekend in January. We are proud to announce that they came in 1st Place! Finally, Optional Coordinator Dr. Jack Maxwell was awarded a Target Field Trip Grant. The funds will be used for a 5th grade field exploration and historical walking tour of downtown Memphis. Students will use their observations to research and create a historical calendar complete with a description and artwork of a Memphis topic. These calendars will be distributed to students, parents, and stakeholders to showcase our students exemplary work.
